This publication is borne out of the lessons we learnt following the studies we carried out at Next Step Initiative. The first study was during the plot project on Low Carbon Glasgow African Community scheme between 2011-2012. The second study is on the ongoing African Climate Change Centre Scotland. This pilot project eventually led to the publication of a good practice guide Tackling Inequality and Climate Change in Scotland, which published in 2012. During the studies, we engaged and consulted with youth from the African Communities, between the ages of 5 to 11 and 12 to 21 years old in Glasgow and West of Scotland, on why there Is a lack of participation and engagement within the Climate Change agenda in Scotland. One of the most remarkable outcomes we discovered In this project is how willing these youth were keen to be involved. This has been very rewarding in terms of what they have learned and the impact on other young people, their families and communities.

The publication was launched at the African Housing Forum Conference on 29th March 2014
