Training Bursary grant of £13,500 gross per annum
Plus a qualification/certificate recognizing learning and understanding.

Next Step Initiative is a leading Ethnic Minority Social Enterprise and Charity established in 2009, working towards transforming the quality of life of African and Caribbean/Ethnic Minority Communities in Scotland. Through the support of strategic heritage partners, has created this unique and exciting new skills training programme. ‘The Ethnic Minority Career Museum and Built Environment Heritage Programme’, (EMCMBEHP). Supported through the Heritage Lottery Fund’s National Skills for the Future Initiative.
Trainee host partners (2019-2020) include: Historic Environment Scotland, Edinburgh Museums and Galleries, and the David Livingstone Trust.
Selection Criteria: Experience & Skills
- Applicants must have a proven enthusiasm for and interest in culture and heritage and a genuine wish to pursue a career in the sector.
- No specific academic qualifications are required but the trainees should be able to express themselves clearly in spoken and written English, have reasonable arithmetic and mathematical skills and have good attention to details.
- Traineeship is only open to people from African and Caribbean/Ethnic Minority Communities across Scotland
